CAIRO, IL — Illinois State Police are reporting that a plane made an emergency landing Monday night on Interstate 57 near Cairo.
Crash reports say the Cesena 150 was occupied by two pilots, and was trying to land at Cairo Regional Airport when it lost power and had to make an emergency landing. The plane was not damaged.
According the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call at 8:26 p.m. about a plane landed in the southbound lanes at around the 5 mile marker.
I-57 southbound was down to one lane of traffic for around 2 hours while crews cleared the scene.
The plane was towed to Cairo Regional Airport.
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
