JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 9 p.m. Sunday night to a report of a involving an armed and intoxicated man not allowing others to leave a residence near White Swan and Interstate 64.

The deputies were ultimately joined by Illinois State Police and the Ina Police Chief – who is a certified negotiator — for what developed into an apparent armed standoff with a subject at the residence.

Reports indicated an armed man repeatedly exited and reentered the residence while yelling at law enforcement. He last exited the residence around 11 p.m. with a weapon in his hand. He was approached by law enforcement and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
