CENTRALIA — A 15-year-old Centralia juvenile male has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the May 4th shooting death of 13-year-old Jaden Krauss.
The charge stems from an incident in the early morning hours, when the 15-year-old was one of a group of acquaintances that were at the home in the 100 block of South Pine. The other juveniles were questioned, but no other charges have been filed.
Krauss was shot in the head and was initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being transferred to Cardinal-Glennon Hospital in St. Louis where he died Monday, May 6.
Jaden’s mother has spoke out on social media against the plea agreement, claiming the 15-year-old “had a gun, pointed it at my son’s head, pulled the trigger, and shot my baby in the head resulting in his death,” questioning the belief that there was no intent of killing him.
She additionally claims in the post that the kids moved Jaden from a bedroom of the Pine Street home to the front porch and would not give his name when authorities arrived, leaving him as a John Doe until his mother arrived.
Sentencing in the case has been set for 1:30 p.m. June 26. The 15-year-old remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
An involuntary manslaughter charge means the shooting was not intentional and there was no intent to kill anyone.
