There will be multiple drug take back event’s held in Franklin and Williamson Counties tomorrow, April 27th.

  1. The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department will host their event from 9 a.m. to noon, at both health department locations in Benton and Marion.

You will be able to turn in your used or expired medications for safe disposal.

They will accept prescriptions, over the counter pills, vitamins, liquid medications and pet medicines. They will not accept needles and sharps, mercury thermometers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances, oxygen containers, pressurized containers/inhalers or illicit drugs.

Immunizations and WIC services will also be available.

  1. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will be participating from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Building on North Monroe Street in Marion.

This event allows you to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medication. This medication will be disposed of by the DEA in an environmentally safe way.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office will also allow you to dispose of needles and “sharps” at the same time. These sharps must be kept separate from the medications. The Sheriff’s Office will dispose of the sharps through its Jail contracts.

  1. The McLeansboro Police Department’s event will also run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but it’ll be held at the McLeansboro Fire Department on South Marshall Street in McLeansboro.

This event allows you to dispose of unused, expired or unwanted prescription medication. This medication will be disposed of by the DEA in an environmentally safe way.
