Centralia fugitive captured in Wisconsin

CENTRALIA — A 32-year-old Centralia man who fled prosecution on nearly 30 outstanding felony and traffic charges has reportedly been apprehended in Wisconsin.

TJ Howard had previously fled prosecution on the same outstanding cases and was captured in California last summer.

While Howard was at-large the first time, the court ordered a portion of the nearly $65,000 combined bond he had posted on the numerous cases dating back to 2011 to be forfeited.

When he was returned from California his bail was set at $150,000 and he was freed after posting $15,000 cash.

Howard is now being held on a no-bond warrant after failing to appear at a February 2018 jury trial on felony driving while license revoked. The Marion County jury took approximately 15 minutes in August to return a guilty verdict against Howard who had previously been advised in court of trial by absentia if he failed to appear.

Howard is now scheduled to be sentenced on the 2016 case charging him with two counts aggravated fleeing and eluding police and two counts driving while license suspended or revoked – all four counts are Class 4 felonies.

The outstanding cases against Howard date back to a 2011 DUI case and extend through to a 2017 case on two Class 2 felony narcotics charges. They include seven outstanding felony cases, four DUI cases and approximately 15 traffic violations.
