MT. VERNON — A 56-year-old Mt. Vernon man is facing multiple counts of child pornography-related offenses in Jefferson County court after an internet provider reported flagged images to authorities.

Reagan Russell was originally charged last April with Class X felony production of child pornography of a victim under the age of 13 and Class 2 felony possession of child pornography of a victim under the age of 13.

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Julie Kozuszek, Detective Bobby Wallace with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the provider’s report, which resulted in Russell’s arrest. He’s remained in custody since that time with bail set at $100,000.

Russell was scheduled for a June 11 jury trial on the first set of charges. But Kozuszek says the defendant rejected an offer from the state so he was charged Tuesday with three new Class X charges for production of child pornography and two Class 1 felony counts of reproduction or sale of child pornography.

Russell was served while in jail with a warrant on the new charges. His bail was subsequently increased to $200,000 and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 24 on the new charges.
