MARION COUNTY — A traffic stop Friday night for an alleged Scott’s Law violation resulted in the arrests of two Texas residents on drug charges.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 57 near Salem Friday night, when 30-year-old Rendell Cruz, of Austin, ignored directions to move over into the lane not next to the first traffic stop.
Cruz was subsequently stopped for the alleged violation and deputies reportedly found a baggie in his vehicle containing a controlled substance.
Cruz and his 30-year-old passenger, Lauren Calderon, of Sugarland, were both arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail on charges of alleged possession of a controlled substance.
