IUKA — Marion County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people over the weekend after reportedly finding one of the men in the process of burglarizing a farm in rural Iuka.

Reports say 44-year-old William Wright, of Odin, was the first of two arrested after deputies watched him attempting break into a barn on Malachi Road.

When Wright spotted the deputy he allegedly attempted to run, but was caught following a foot pursuit.

Deputies responded to the farm after being told a car that was seen in the area during a Friday burglary had returned.

Several hours after William Wright’s arrest, deputies again returned to the location when the same suspicious vehicle was seen back in the area, possibly to pick him up.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and after property believed taken in earlier burglaries, along with burglary tools were reportedly found in the vehicle, Wright’s 46-year-old brother Lee Wright, of Centralia, was also arrested

Both men were formally charged in Marion County court Monday with Class 2 felony burglary. They remain in the Marion County Jail, with bail to be set.
