ILLINOIS (RFD) — With the help of Democrat lawmakers Governor JB Pritzker has filled one of his campaign promises. The House voted on Thursday to increase the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour over the next 6 years. The vote was party line all the way and Republicans in the House continued to share concerns that the move would harm businesses and cost workers their jobs – Republican Rep. Charlie Meier.
Democrats say the wage needs to be boosted to give workers the chance at a living wage. The first wage increase begins next year with a dollar and hour boost.
