MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council has approved the latest step the city will take to control the geese population at Veteran’s Park. The resolution includes an agreement with the USDA for services to try and keep geese away, along with removing aggressive geese when necessary.

City Manager Mary Ellen Bechtel told the council last Tuesday that hopefully this latest action will be more successful than previous attempts to control the geese population.

Assistant City Manager Nathan McKenna told the council that the geese problem has been ongoing for about five years.
