MT. VERNON — When Davina Overbey was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, not only her employer, but her friends sprung into action to help cover the growing day-to-day as well as medical expenses.
Hearts For Davina, a “gofundme” campaign, was created by Tracy Sargent and Matt Sweeten. They’ve since worked multiple events to help raise money to help Overbey, however, Sweeten talks about an upcoming event on February 2nd.
The fundraiser runs from Noon-11pm at A Pocketful of Sunshine on Idlewood Rd. in Mt. Vernon.
Sargent says the support for Davina has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Withers Broadcasting Companies and Dana Communications have donated $2,000 to the fundraiser and are issuing a challenge to any business or individual to match or beat that amount.
