WASHINGTON COUNTY — Almost two months after his arrest on felony child sex offenses, a 69-year-old Wamac man has not yet had a preliminary hearing on the charges as he continues searching for an attorney.

Henry Michael Wolenhaupt was arrested in August and charged with two counts Class 1 criminal sexual assault of a family member under the age of 18 and three counts Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member under the age of 18.

Following his arrest in August, Wolenhaupt pleaded not guilty to the charges and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for September 13, with a first appearance with a defense attorney.

When Wolenhaupt had not retained counsel by that date the hearing was rescheduled and has been rescheduled nearly 5 times, with the most recent hearing on Thursday being reset for October 16.

As he continues to search for an attorney, Wolenhaupt remains in the Washington County Jail with bail set at $200,000.

Multiple requests made to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for a mugshot of Wolenhaupt have been unsuccessful.
