JEFFERSON COUNTY — The jury trial of a 40-year-old Christopher woman charged in Jefferson County court with a fire at the Mt. Vernon Drury Inn is scheduled to start Tuesday with jury selection.

Adriane Parke was originally charged with Class X felony aggravated arson knowing people present, Class 2 felony arson of property valued over $150, and Class 4 felony criminal damage to government property.

However, the state has agreed to dismiss the two lesser charges and proceed only on the Class X felony.

Parke worked as a housekeeper at the Drury Inn during the time she’s believed to have set the fire.

Close to 60 guests and employees had to evacuate during the fire, but Parke was the only injury reported as she reportedly suffered from smoke inhalation.

She was ultimately arrested on the charges in Franklin County before being transported to Jefferson County, where a few weeks later she posted $5,000 cash bond and was released.

At a final pre-trial hearing in court Friday Parke was warned that if she fails to appear at trial Tuesday she could be tried and sentenced in absentia.
