FAYETTE COUNTY — A 41-year-old Brownstown man was sentenced Tuesday in Fayette County court to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to an incident earlier this month where he was trying to cook his own meal at the Denny’s truck stop in Vandalia.

Ufices Earvin was arrested August 2, by Fayette County Sheriff’s Office after deputies responded to a report Denny’s of an intoxicated employee who was off the clock but wanted to cook his own meal.

Responding deputies then took Earvin home to his Brownstown residence, but he told them he would be back.

Soon after, deputies were called back to Denny’s for a belligerent and drunk man. Earvin reportedly backed his vehicle thru the Denny’s parking lot and struck a concrete gas pump barrier.

Reports say Earvin shoulder-butted a “rather large officer,” and then made a number of threatening statements.

He was ultimately charged with Class 2 felony aggravated battery of a peace officer, Class 3 threatening a public official, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to the Class 2 felony charge in exchange for the other two being dismissed, along with all pending traffic tickets.
