BENTON — The Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Webster and Spani Street is back open after several flatbed railroad cars derailed south of Webster Street Saturday.

Franklin County Emergency Management said there was no threat to the public’s safety. The area was shut down for cleanup. It’s unknown what caused the derailment. It is under investigation.

Officials say all Union Pacific railroad crossings in Benton are fully operational.
