CENTRALIA — The father of an Opdyke teen whose car ran off Country Club Road Friday night and into Raccoon Lake helped retrieve the vehicle from the lake Saturday.
Centralia police report the 18-year-old driver of the car, Samuel Lisk and his 17-year-old male passenger were able to safely swim from the Ford Fusion to the shore and call 9-1-1.
Lisk told police that he was unfamiliar with the road and didn’t see the water at the end of the road until it was too late to stop the car. The call to 9-1-1 was made around 10:45 p.m.
The car floated a few hundred feet from the shore so police decided to leave it until morning. Langley Towing of Greenville responded Saturday morning to tow out the Ford, with help from Lisk’s father who is a diver and swam out to connect the tow line to the back of the car.
