WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A Marion man recently pled guilty in Williamson County Court to one count of forgery – a Class 3 felony – stemming from an October 2017 arrest in Marion and was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections as part of the plea.

Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti says as part of a routine street-level drug investigation on Oct. 9, 2017, 26-year-old Josten T. Denwood was located by officers after a brief foot pursuit.

During the pursuit, Denwood scattered several items that were in his possession. Of those items, Marion officers located eight counterfeit $20 bills.

Zanotti says Denwood will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following his release from prison.

The investigation was handled by the Marion Police Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Becky Ray led the prosecution of this case.
