HAMILTON COUNTY — A McLeansboro man recently pled guilty in two separate cases and will serve a total of 29 years in state prison on child porn and sex abuse charges.

According to Hamilton County State’s Attorney Justin Hood, 29-year-old Matthew French will also serve two years of mandatory supervised release after he is released from prison.

Hood says French pled guilty to a Class 1 felony for child pornography and got 15 years and a Class 2 felony for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and got 14 years. Those sentences will run concurrent with each count but consecutive to the second case. French pled guilty to two counts of Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse and will serve a 14-year sentence on each count.

French admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old juvenile female at a local city park and had topless photographs on his phone after McLeansboro Police did a search warrant. The photographs from the phone led to charges in the second case where French had sexually abused a 13-year-old girl.
