CENTRALIA — Centralia police are searching for a Mt. Vernon man believed responsible for taking a vehicle during a domestic dispute and then running the car up a guy wire to a power pole near the Centralia Cultural Center.

According to police, the subject allegedly took the car from a victim during an aggravated domestic battery Tuesday night. The vehicle was found around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning on the guy line to a power pole near Rexford and Pleasant streets.

Because the pole held three transformers, Ameren was called to isolate the pole while the vehicle was removed from the guy line.

Power was temporarily interrupted to Ameren customers in the area, but the car was removed around 10 a.m. and power restored to the damaged pole.
