MURPHYSBORO — The University of Illinois Jackson County Extension Office invites you to an Open House and Tomato Production Twilight Meeting at the extension office in Murphysboro on Monday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. The extension office is located at 402 Ava Rd.

Officials say this year, they have a research trial with 12 determinate red slicing tomatoes, including some new releases along with other on vegetable trials including asparagus, sweet snacking peppers, cucumbers and cut flowers both in field and high tunnel.

The Open House to tour the other research trials will run from 5 to 6 p.m. A discussion on tomato production and the variety trial will start at 6 p.m. This is a great chance to see all 12 of the tomato varieties during the peak of the harvest season.
