BENTON — A Benton man was charged with theft and taken to the Franklin County Jail after Benton Police got a 911 call about a stolen four-wheeler from the 700 block of Locust Street Thursday afternoon.

Police responded to the area of Industrial Park Road and Bowling Alley Road where the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Aaron A. Hargett, was last seen entering a wooded area.

Officers from the Benton Police Department, West City Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office searched the area on foot, subsequently locating the four-wheeler and a short time later Hargett.

K-9 Units from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Benton Police were also deployed. The sheriff’s office K-9 Diego and Benton Police K-9 Ranger led officers to additional stolen property in the area.

Benton Police say the investigation continues.
