A 26-year-old East St. Louis man is in the Marion County Jail after he allegedly ran into a kerosene pump early Saturday morning at the Citgo station in Central City and then fought with an officer attempting to arrest him.

According to police, they saw Stanley Hunt run over the pump and attempted to stop him before he drove down to Bennett and Green Street Road where he eventually stopped. Hunt reportedly fought with the officer taking him into custody. Centralia and Wamac officers responded to the scene to assist the Central City officer.

Hunt was ultimately taken into custody for alleged driving under the influence, aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended or revoked, and on an outstanding Marion County warrant.

The Citgo station had to close while the damaged kerosene pump was being repaired.
