REND LAKE — The Rend Lake Conservancy District canceled its request for residents to conserve water Sunday, according to a release.

The statement from RLCD General Counsel Larry Sanders stated, “Due to the concerted efforts of every community to conserve water, the Rend Lake Conservancy District is ending the request for water conservation. We cannot thank all of you enough for your efforts to conserve. Now, you may spend the afternoon doing laundry, washing dishes, and taking showers!”

While water conservation is no longer necessary, the need to boil water still exists. A boil water order will remain in effect until each community tests and receives samples back indicating the water is safe for human consumption.
