MT. VERNON – Bottled water is available for Jefferson County residents at Mt. Vernon’s Veterans Park tonight and tomorrow for all of those impacted by the Rend Lake Water Event.

Crews will be on hand at the Rolland Lewis Building until 9:00 p.m. tonight and again from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. Each vehicle will receive a case of bottled water at no charge.

The city has also worked with other Jefferson County communities to deliver water to those towns so that they can in turn provide water to shut ins and those otherwise unable to drive to get water.

There is also a need for volunteers to help distribute the water at the park. Interested volunteers may report during the giveaway times.
