Kaskaskia College has given the 2018 Kaskaskia College Distinguished Service Award to a Centralia businessman.

Wes Monken started his involvement with Kaskaskia College as an advisory member of the Automotive Technology Program and as a member of the KC Sports Association.

Through his involvement with the Advisory Board, KC’s Automotive Technology Program has expanded its program offerings, including the development of a Light Diesel Program.

He was also instrumental in the purchase and installation of a new hydraulic lift in the automotive lab.

Monken became involved with the KC Sports Association in 2007 and was named Chairman of the organization in 2009. He has now been leading the group for nine years.

According to his nominator, Cathy Karrick, “Wes has been an integral part in the continuation of KCSA and we are indebted to him for his leadership. He brings a perspective to the board that is greatly needed.”

Cathy adds that Wes is extremely active on the KCSA Board. He has become a loyal member to the KCSA as well as a great friend to Kaskaskia College.
