Preliminary Information on a single vehicle fatal crash on I-57 in Williamson County Sunday has been released by the Illinois State Police.

A 20 year old male passenger from Florissant, Missouri suffered fatal injuries when the Hyundai Elantra he was riding in left the roadway for an unknown reason around mile marker 51, struck a tree and caused major damage to the front end of the vehicle.

A Juvenile in the rear passenger seat suffered major injuries.

The driver, a 28 year old female from St. Louis, Missouri suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash and charges are pending investigation and names will be released after notification of family. The crash occurred at 4:40pm.
