Producers were kept out of the fields once again as we hear in the weekly crop report.

There was on average less than two days suitable for fieldwork this past week and most was limited to light planting and anhydrous ammonia application. Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener has an update on winter wheat.

Average statewide topsoil moisture is rated at one percent very short, two percent short, 65 percent adequate and 32 percent surplus.

Rain and cold weather didn’t leave much time for fieldwork says Schleusner.

Usually about five percent of corn has been planted by now.
