A 25-year-old Centralia man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County court to 18-months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one of three felony charges stemming from a domestic situation earlier this month.
Keith Gregg Jr. pleaded guilty to Class 4 felony unlawful restraint, in exchange for two charges of Class 4 felony domestic battery being dismissed.
Gregg was arrested March 3 after holding a female hostage overnight in an apartment in the 500 block of North Hickory.
He was reported to have a knife and pepper spray at the time he held the woman. Police also reported that he had poured a flammable substance on the curtains in the residence and threatened to harm the female and light the apartment on fire, if police were called.
Officers responded to the scene and evacuated nearby residences. Centralia Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance were staged nearby throughout the incident, and a tactical team with ILEAS also responded.
The female received minor injuries, but did not seek medical treatment.
Just days before the incident, Gregg had pleaded guilty in Marion County court to an unrelated charge of misdemeanor domestic battery and was sentenced to 2-years probation.
In light of the second arrest, Gregg’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 18-months in prison to be served concurrently to the 18-month sentence for unlawful restraint.
