Sentencing is scheduled this afternoon in Jefferson County for a 33-year-old Mt. Vernon woman accused of selling heroin.
June Patterson was arrested last February in a drug-related warrant sweep throughout Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department arrested almost 20 people in the February 2017 effort that stemmed from investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division.
Patterson was ultimately charged with Class 1 felony distribution of a controlled substance within 500 feet of a school, church, or public housing.
She filed an open guilty plea in October, meaning there is no agreement on her sentence, but a Class 1 felony is punishable by between 4 and 15 years in prison.
