A 62-year-old Kell man was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital Sunday afternoon for treatment of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash.
According to reports, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3 p.m. to Stuber Road just off Kell Road on a report of a truck that left the roadway, went up into a wooded area, and struck a tree head-on.
Gus Kuesis climbed out of his truck on his own and managed to walk over a half-mile before collapsing. He was ultimately found and emergency personnel were called.
Due to the extent of Kuesis’ injuries it was decided that rather than transport him by ambulance to a local hospital and have the medical helicopter meet them there, the AirEvac helicopter would land at the nearby Kell School for airlift.
He’s been cited for driving while license revoked, driving without insurance, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
