A high-speed chase early Sunday morning in Centralia has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Mt. Vernon man on multiple charges.
Kymir McGee reportedly fled from Centralia police after they attempted to stop a car at McCord and Country Club Road.
According to reports, a man in the vehicle — later identified as McGee – ducked down when a squad car passed and then sped away as the officer was turning his squad car around to stop the car.
The vehicle reportedly reached speeds of 90 miles an hour on Country Club Road then continued on to Gragg Street and Chipwood Lane where he reportedly drove across a yard and into a wooded area before stopping behind a house.
When officers approached the vehicle they found McGee and two female passengers sitting in the car.
He was arrested on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, along with felony theft and possession of a stolen debit card.
The theft charges come from an incident last week when during an argument with his girlfriend he allegedly took a debit card belonging to her and then used it to make two $400 withdrawals from an ATM.
McGee was taken to the Marion County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail. The two female passengers were released without charge.
