A Jeffersonville, Illinois man was arrested after he allegedly stole someone’s vehicle from his driveway in Mitchellsville and led law enforcement on a pursuit early Friday morning.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office say dispatch received a report at 2:15 a.m. about the vehicle being stolen

A deputy spotted the vehicles on Walnut Grove Road off of Illinois 145, where the driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Elijah D. Fulton, took off in a high rate of speed towards Carrier Mills.

The pursuit ended when Fulton bailed out of the vehicle near a home on Town Park Road north of Carrier Mills. Fulton was later taken into custody and faces preliminary charges of aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated vehicle theft, criminal damage to property, unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and no valid firearm owners identification.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate this case.
