A woman is facing charges after leading law enforcement from Franklin, Hamilton and White counties on a chase that ended with her arrest in Carmi Monday.
32-year-old, Michelle Miller is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, obstructing justice and destroying evidence.
A Zeigler Police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle in a church parking lot around 1 a.m. When the officer pulled up and turned on his lights, Miller left. Officers then stopped Miller a few more times, but she would flee again almost hitting several officers and clipping one of them.
Miller led officers through Zeigler, Christopher, West City, Benton and McLeansboro. When a Zeigler officer tried to get in front of Miller to stop her, she rammed her vehicle into the Zeigler Police car causing it to go into the ditch.
Another Zeigler Police car hydroplaned when it was chasing Miller on the Benton Square. That car ended up crashing into the retaining wall at the Franklin County Courthouse in Benton.
Sheriff Deputies from Franklin, Hamilton and White counties then took over the chase. It ended with Miller’s arrest at a home in Carmi.
Two Zeigler officers suffered non-life threatening injuries.
