There has been some talk on social media that the Illinois Star Centre Mall is Marion is about to close its doors at the end of this month. But the mall’s owner is denying what is being said on Facebook.

Dennis Ballinger told WSIL-TV rumors about the mall closing are not true and doesn’t know who is putting out the information on social media. He says May’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing to reorganize only made the rumors circulate faster.

Ballinger says the mall has not turned against the businesses that remain loyal to the mall. Some of those businesses have also been on Facebook saying they aren’t going anywhere. Ballinger says businesses that have not paid the rent in months are being kicked out.

Some business owners inside the mall say the mall owners have assured them they will honor their contracts.
