Prosecution and defense are working on a possible plea agreement in the Richland County first-degree murder case of a 54-year-old Olney man accused of killing an 8-year-old girl.

Glenn Ramey is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault and first-degree murder in the death of Sabrina Stauffenberg the weekend of Thanksgiving 2016.

A fitness examination and jury trial earlier found Ramey is fit to stand trial on the charges.

At a hearing Friday it was decided that the decision will be made January 25 for Ramey to either enter a negotiated plea or open plea in the case.

Unlike a negotiated plea that comes with a sentencing agreement, an open plea does not.
