A 27-year-old Dix woman was injured Sunday night in a one-vehicle crash on Dix-Irvington Road that required her to be extricated from the wreckage of her car.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:23 p.m. Sunday, Vanessa Mulvaney was traveling on Dix-Irvington Road, about five miles east of U.S. 51, when for unknown reasons her car drifted off the road, went down a large embankment and bounced off two sides of a tree before coming to a stop.

Centralia Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the scene and extricated Mulvaney from the vehicle of which, she was the only occupant.

She was taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of
