A Carbondale woman is in the Jackson County Jail in connection with the death of a Carbondale man early Thursday morning.
Carbondale Police went to the 300 block of South Marion Street just after midnight in reference to a report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they found a man who was unresponsive with a stab wound to the chest.
Officers and Jackson County Ambulance Service paramedics performed life-saving measures at that time. The victim, 55-year-old Reginal Gilspie of Carbondale, was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he later died.
The suspect in this case, 42-year-old Rebecca Belle Valentine of Carbondale, was Glispie’s girlfriend and lived in the apartment with him. She was arrested and was preliminary charged with involuntary manslaughter and taken to jail.
