Jim Flood is no longer Zeigler’s finance commissioner.

During Tuesday night’s Zeigler City Council meeting, Flood agreed to become street commissioner and Dorothy Bagwell-O’Brian was named finance commissioner. That’s according to WSIL-TV.

Flood’s reassignment came at the request of the city auditor Dennis Uhls, who requested the change following the release of his report showing that former Zeigler City Treasurer Ryan Thorpe stole more than $315,000 from the city. He was recently indicted for wire fraud and embezzlement in U.S. District Court in Benton.

The FBI has also been back in Zeigler investigating Flood for potential witness intimidation due to his behavior toward some city employees.

Flood said at the meeting that he has done nothing wrong. His attorney has threatened legal action against the city auditor if he doesn’t alter a report saying it’s a “fact” that Flood threatened city employees.

Federal authorities have told city employees that if they feel threatened by Flood or anyone else to call the police.
