Three semis were involved in a crash in the construction zone on northbound I-57 near Marion around 12:50 Wednesday afternoon.

Illinois State Police say a semi driven by 36-year-old Jay S. Huber, Jr. of Wilton, Iowa and another semi driven by 53-year-old David C. Meek of Greensboro, Georgia were stationary in backed up traffic from the construction zone at milepost 49 when another semi driven by 59-year-old Calvin G. Wyatt of Angus, Ontario struck the rear of Meek’s semi shoving into the rear of Huber’s semi. All three semis were towed due to damage.

An ISP trooper was finishing his investigation into a property damage only crash when this crash happened.

Wyatt and Huber Jr. were not hurt. Meek suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Wyatt’s passenger, 49-year-old Annette M. Wyatt of Angus, Ontario, was not hurt.

One lane to travel remained open during the crash investigation and scene clean up. All lanes were back open to normal traffic at 2:30 p.m.

Wyatt was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
