FAYETTE COUNTY — A 16-year-old Salem female was injured when the pickup she was riding in just before 5 p.m. Tuesday ran off the road in Fayette County and struck a utility pole.
According to Illinois State Police, 22-year-old Bradin Taylor, of Odin, was driving southbound on U.S. 51 at Fayette County Road 900N when the vehicle in front of him slowed to make a left turn.
Taylor left the right side of the roadway to avoid striking the other vehicle. His truck hit a culvert, crossed over County Road 900N and went into the ditch where it struck a utility pole.
The female passenger was taken to the Fayette County Hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries. Taylor was uninjured.
He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle, and failure to wear a seatbelt. The female passenger was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
