MOUNT VERNON — A 23-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in the Jefferson County Jail following his arrest early Tuesday morning for allegedly breaking out windows of the U.S. Federal Building in Mt. Vernon.

According to Mt. Vernon police, they arrested Demetrius A. Clark for alleged felony criminal damage to property with damage exceeding $10,000 in value and for allegedly resisting arrest.

Police reports say officers responded around 6:55 a.m. Tuesday to the U.S. Federal Building at 105 South Sixth Street in Mt. Vernon for a report of a subject breaking out windows along the south side of the building.

Officers made contact with Clark near the Federal Building and took him into custody. Ten windows were determined to be damaged.
