MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police responded around Monday night to multiple reports of shots fired across the city, with reports indicating at least two individuals being taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to reports, multiple victims were transported around 10:30 p.m. from the area of 23rd and Conger. There is no information regarding possible suspects at this time but police did have streets blocked in the area.

The reported incident came after multiple reports earlier in the evening of shots fired in the area of Logan and 22nd streets.

It was also followed by reports approximately a half-hour later of shots fired in the 400 block of South 18th Street and the 600 block of Lamar.

Later in the evening Centralia police responded to shots fired in their city, in what was described as a “rolling gun battle” around 11:40 p.m. on the north side of town.

No injuries have been reported from that incident but at least one vehicle and one house reportedly were shot multiple times in the incident. Numerous shell casings were reportedly found in the street.

It’s unclear at this time if the shooting incidents in Mt. Vernon are related to the incident in Centralia.
