MT VERNON, IL (SEPTEMBER 18, 2017) – Mike Warren, President, SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, will be retiring on October 6th, concluding a distinguished career spanning three decades. Mike assumed his current role as President of Good Samaritan Hospital in 2008. Prior to this, Mike gained extensive administrative experience serving as Vice President of Clinical Development, Vice President of Operations, and Vice President of Planning and Marketing.

He has left many contributions that will shape our ministry in southern Illinois long into the future.”
During his 31-year tenure, Mike’s accomplishments have made a significant impact on health care in the region. Most notably, he led the planning, construction, and opening of Good Samaritan’s new medical campus, which became a reality in 2013. In addition to this, Mike’s exceptional relations with physicians have led to successful joint ventures which have improved access to specialized health care services. These joint ventures include an orthopedic center and cancer center located on the current medical campus, as well as a joint venture ambulatory surgery center and an outpatient sleep/neurology center. Another significant achievement led by Mike was the expansion of the cardiovascular service line, including the development of an open heart surgery program at Good Samaritan, in 2001.
Mike has remained highly committed to improving quality, patient satisfaction and clinical performance. Under his leadership, Good Samaritan earned the “Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence” and the “Patient Safety Excellence Award” by HealthGrades. In addition, the hospital has earned the Premier Quest “Partnership for Patients Citation of Merit”, U.S. News and World Report “Best Ranking Hospital in Southern Illinois”, and the “Guardian of Excellence Award” from Press Ganey for physician engagement.
