(SALEM, IL) — Bail has been set at $15,000 for a 29-year-old Centralia man charged in Marion County Court with multiple drug offenses. Brendan Heffron was arrested late Saturday night after a Central City Police officer knowing Heffron’s driver’s license was revoked, attempted to pull him over. Heffron, however, allegedly refused to stop and at one point reportedly yelling out the window of his vehicle asking him why he was trying to stop him. Heffron ultimately pulled over in the 300 block of South Broadway. He was taken into custody for allegedly driving while license revoked, on an outstanding Marion County warrant stemming from an ordinance violation, and on multiple drug offenses. He was formally charged Monday with Class 3 felony possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine and Class 4 felony possession of between 30 and 100 grams of cannabis with two or more prior convictions. Heffron was advised in court of the charges against him and the possible penalties if he’s convicted. He was appointed a public defender and is next scheduled in court August 8 for a hearing on a defense motion to reduce bail.
