(MT. VERNON, IL) —  A Mt. Vernon man who pleaded guilty in April 2016 to a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after he was found to have committed an act of sexual conduct on a toddler is now seeking a reduced sentence.  After being sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, 27 year old Cody Richardson will have his motion heard in court after initially filing the motion to have his sentenced reconsidered in August 2016.  A procedural mistake with filing the certificate has been named as the cause for the motion, which will be heard April 12th at 1:30 p.m. The motion was initially denied and Richardson filed an appeal.
