(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon Police Department authorities have arrested a Mt. Vernon man for aggravated battery in a public place and disorderly conduct.  Officers were called out to the 1100 block of South 23rd Street at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a domestic disturbance and arrested 40 year old Miguel Hernandez. The investigation determined that Hernandez had struck an individual with his vehicle and a further physical altercation ensued.  The injured individual refused treatment at the scene.  Hernandez was transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he was awaiting his first court appearance and the setting of bond.
