(MT. VERNON, IL) — Authorities with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a rural Mt. Vernon man Friday on a charge of criminal sexual abuse by force. Officers arrested 36 year old Stephen Beatty for the charge. A child in the case was taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services while the investigation continues.
