(MT. VERNON, IL) — The MVTHS Board of Education had another closed meeting on Thursday to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the district and to take action upon the proposed reclassification of an administrative employee. This time it is Assistant Principal Robert Knutson’s position that is at the center of the discussions. The vote Thursday from the Board to direct Superintendent Michael Smith to inform Knutson of the proposed reclassification came after a closed session that lasted 95 minutes, which was brief compared to some of their recent sessions. Exactly what reclassification will take place has yet to be determined according to Smith, but Knutson has been mentioned by board members during a public forum period of a recent board meeting as a figurehead in some of the decision making that has led to planning oversights regarding some of the facilities on the new campus, in addition to accusations along with the administration through social media for poor leadership and fostering a non-conducive work environment for fellow faculty. Knutson’s role will be determined by Smith at a later date.
