(CARBONDALE, IL) — Carbondale Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that happened Saturday afternoon at the Kroger Fuel Station, located at 501 N. Giant City Road.  According to a police report, officers went to Kroger around 2:40 and learned that the suspect approached the employee about five minutes earlier and inferred that he had a handgun. The suspect demanded money and merchandise. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. The suspect left on foot and was last seen walking southwest from the scene.  The suspect was described as a light skinned black male about 27 years old, standing 5’ 11” tall weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray or blue colored zip up hooded sweat-shirt with gray sweat pants and what appeared to be a pair of light colored boxer shorts with dark pattern. The suspect attempted to conceal the top portion and lower portion of his head with a black cloth.
