(PINCKNEYVILLE, IL) — A head on collision that occurred in Perry County on the west side of Pinckneyville on Illinois Route 154 at Conant Road has fatally injured one of the drivers. The two vehicle head on collision occurred at approximately 7:25 A.M. this morning.  A vehicle driven by 25 year old Brian A. Scholebo of Pinckneyville was east bound on Illinois Route 154 approximately ½ mile east of Rose of Sharon Road.  A vehicle driven by 39 year old Michael A. Gibson of Sparta was west bound in the same location.  The Scholebo vehicle crossed the center line for an unknown reason and struck the Gibson vehicle head on.  Scholebo was fatally injured in the collision, while Gibson was flown from the scene via medical helicopter to a regional hospital.This crash is pending further investigation by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.  The roadway was reopened at approximately 11:15 A.M.  No additional information will be released at this time.
